Johannesburg - A man was sentenced in the Nigel regional court on Wednesday to 25 years in prison, after he was found guilty of murdering a 16-year-old girl, Gauteng police said.
"The girl was last seen alive with the accused, Petros Boshego 42, in Tsakane (on the East Rand). Her body was found with bullet wounds at Hippo Quarries, Dunnottar on the 16th November 2004," Superintendent Andy Pieke said on Thursday.
"Boshego was found in possession of an unlicensed pistol, and ballistics proved it was the same pistol used to shoot the girl," Pieke said.
The Dunnottar police arrested Boshego the same day they started their investigations. He was packing and was on his way to Polokwane.
Boshego was also charged with rape, fraud, possession of an unlicensed pistol and ammunition.
