Elderly farmer wounded by gunman

A 63-year-old man was shot and injured on a farm in Howick, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Thursday.

Inspector Joey Jeevan said Trevor Mason of Bea Villa farm near Howick was inside his house on Wednesday evening when he heard his dogs barking.

He went outside to investigate and was confronted by an armed man.

The man shot and injured Mason in his left hip. He then fled the scene on foot.

Mason was treated in a private hospital.

Police had made no arrests.
