One of the men convicted of the murders of Pietermaritzburg journalist Elaine Anderson and motorist Patricia Kippen appeared briefly in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday after being linked to a spate of murders and robberies.
Sibusiso Duma, 24, who was last year sentenced to life imprisonment for his part in the murders of the women, has been charged with two more murders, robbery and rape.
Both Durban and Pietermaritzburg were gripped by a reign of terror in October that included murder, attempted murder, robbery and rape.
Police said at the time that the two men arrested for the murders of Anderson and Kippen on October 14 may have been responsible for the other crimes.
It was speculated that the men may be responsible for the shocking murder of Hillcrest teenager Calvin Boreham, who was shot dead after the car he was travelling in came under fire from a white minibus taxi.
This link has not been confirmed, but Duma has been connected to the rape of a young Georgetown woman who was abducted, driven over and left for dead.
The case has been postponed to April 22.
