A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a woman in Bronkhorstspruit, Gauteng, police said on Tuesday.
Director Sally de Beer said armed robbers shot and killed Laetitia Prinsloo in her home east of Pretoria while she and her husband were asleep during the early hours of November 20.
Dr Duncan Prinsloo was still recovering in hospital.
The youth was arrested on Monday. He would appear in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on charges of murder and attempted murder.
"We are still investigating the case and expect to make more arrests. Combating house robberies is one of our top priorities and the South African Police Service is making every effort to identify and arrest the perpetrators of this barbaric crime trend," de Beer said.
