Bloodied bodies found near farm

Johannesburg - Bodies of a farm owner and an unidentified person were found next to the Geluksvlei farm in Bethlehem, Free State police said on Thursday.

Sergeant Mmako Mophiring said the bodies were discovered on Wednesday evening.

"An employee at Geluksvlei farm in Vrede alerted police to an incident where a blood stained bakkie stood near the farm's main gate," he said.

"When police arrived on the scene they discovered that someone had been dragged from the bakkie to the nearby grass."

Mophiring said police discovered two bodies. One of the bodies was positively identified as the farm owner Phillipus Theunis Engelbrecht but the other was unknown.

Mophiring said police could not see the wounds the two sustained because the bodies were full of blood.

"We suspect the two may have been shot, but that will be determined once the bodies are cleaned and autopsies conducted."

He said it was not clear if the unknown body was that of an employee at the farm.

However, the employee who contacted the police could not identify the body.

Police are investigating two cases of murder.
