Murdered elderly couple: two held

Two people have been arrested for the murder of an elderly couple in Tembisa, in Ekurhuleni, last week, said Limpopo police.

Superintendent Ronel Otto said one person was arrested in Masodi village on Tuesday and the other in Tembisa, Kempton Park, the same day.

Police seized a firearm stolen in the incident, a cellphone, household items, jewellery and clothing.

Jozia Francois Booysen, 70 and his wife Esme Booysen, 54, were beaten to death with stones in Tinmyne on Friday.

Their assailants fled in their vehicle, which was later found abandoned, burnt-out about 20km away. A stolen revolver was found in the vehicle. - Sapa
